Google is trying out new web-based Gmail UI

The development team that creates Gmail is in-house testing a simplified layout of its Web-based version. With increased resemblances towards the mobile interface, the brand new Web interface, continues to produced with responsive design in mind. For those which are unfamiliar, responsive design imply that a site will instantly position elements on screen based from the display size.

Among the greatest changes is the development of the slide-in menu on the left side of the mailbox, using the place of the present tabbed layout. Hangouts will get a retractable home on the other side from the screen. Altering the present starring system the leak showcases the formerly seen Pin system, available for you to highlight important emails you won’t want to forget.

On the left side of the screen, Google appears to be transitioning to “fly-in” menus to select different folders or various inboxes. On the right side of the screen, Google has added a quick access menu at the bottom to quickly start an email as well as a Hangouts option at the top to launch into chat with an email contact. In the middle of the screen, Google has positioned all recent emails. The additional width of this layout will likely allow for longer subject lines. Oddly, there doesn’t seem to be a position for Google Adsense in this layout, a element of the current Gmail interface.

This interface includes Google’s transition from stars to pins if this involves noticing the impact of a particular email chain. After an email has been pinned, the pin toggle towards the top of the screen will instantly organize all pinned emails towards the top of the feed. This can be a pleasant addition because the height increase of every email preview is about two times the size of the existing layout, thus the brand new interface can have less emails and need scrolling sooner.

There isn’t any expected release date for these features, or perhaps a certain that Google will put them into conclude action in the manner we have seen them during these images. Without further notice about the launch of this feature, we could assume that this could possibly be unveiled this coming June for the Google I/O 2014 conference.
